UK Incident Response....

Fire Photos....

is the UK's only independently run stock photography agency located in the South East of England specialising in images of fire and rescue
services worldwide, from stock images of equipment & procedures to on-scene images from operational incidents.

The main aim is photography for documentation and education, incident scenes can be unpredictable and often dangerous places, it is
sometimes difficult to effectively train for events that cannot always be predicted or often fully controlled. The regular documentation of fires,
special services and the updating of equipment and procedures is important to the operations of any fire and rescue service.
Stills photography for hardcopy and power point presentations are not only key contributions to a training facility but also for keeping serving
fire fighters up to date with the ever changing knowledge & procedures adopted as a result of advances in such knowledge and technology.

An imaging service such as Fire Photos can play a crucial behind-the-scenes role in
educating and saving lives, with the use of digital photography, electronic file storage,
file sharing and presentation providing increased accessibility, productivity, usability
and more importantly visibility to a fire services resources and history.
Power point presentations are readily distributed and displayed in fire stations, and
incident images can even be emailed to a services publicity department direct from or
before an incident has been closed.
Visual impact is an idiom used to describe the efforts of modern advertisers, film & television producers and it is of no
less importance to a fire service in the production of it's internal publications and marketing, fire prevention literature,
training and public relations, and the layout and design of operational appliances and their equipment.
Whilst on any fire ground every available opportunity is taken to capture images of any latest equipment in use under
operational conditions for training, instructional, and publicity purposes.
When working at an incident Fire Photos follows Departmental, Service, Health & Safety and Home Office procedures in order to preserve any Fire Investigation evidence and minimise any exposure to potential health risks.

Fire Photos is continually adding new images to it's library and over the months will be photographing alongside fire services worldwide from Local Authorities, Industrial, Volunteer, Private, Civil Airport, Military, Maritime, Off Shore & Historical Re-enactment departments on pre-arranged assignments and training exercises.

Fire Photos holds no ethnic, religious or political views.
I photograph fire fighters as fire fighters, carrying out the same role regardless of where they live & work, who they worship and who they support.

Without the understanding of all the fire fighters I work alongside, it would be difficult to capture the images I do. It is down to the levels of professionalism and respect that we afford each other that we are able to work to accomplish our roles effectively & safely. It is a sad fact that on occasion a life is lost, and it is with the same respect that the fallen are remembered upon this sites Line of Duty page.

As a serving operational fire officer I have a high level of incident ground behaviour and procedural knowledge, including safe working and incident command which allows me to operate safely within an incident ground alongside fire crews at all types of incidents and training scenarios.

My operational experience allows me a unique degree of access that no other media photographer could safely be provided without the proper training.
This experience also allows me to understand how an incident may develop and any associated risks, this understanding lets me operate without the need for the level of close supervision that an untrained Press photographer may require.
Incidents of interest both Nationally and Internationally are attended speculatively, at the request of a County Fire Service or on behalf of a specific media publication.
The major incident at the Buncefield Fuel Depot in December 2005 saw Fire Photos on scene for a total of 19 hours, and was the only fire service related photographer in attendance for the period of offensive foam attack operations.

The following levels and categories of incidents may be attended on a speculative
response basis both locally and nationally;
Six pumps and above locally, ten pumps and above nationally

Incidents, training and assignments so far photographed involving fire fighters of ;

Larger incidents involving hazardous substances
Incidents of special interes, i.e; rail, air, motorway, maritime, flooding, wildfire

Major incidents initiated by a Fire Service or Government Agency

Fire Photos can provide a 24 hour on-call incident response on behalf of any UK

This response is charged at an RDS Watch Managers hourly rate
(in accordance with national pay scales) from the point of mobilisation by Command and Control.
All further costs are covered by RETAINING FULL RE-SALE COPYRIGHT OF ALL
THE IMAGES TAKEN with the exception of fatal and fire investigation images. Full
copies of all images will be provided on disc to the relevant fire service for their full
UNLIMITED & UNRESTRICTED FREE USE.
When attending an incident Fire Photos follows fire ground procedure by reporting
to the Incident Command Unit and the Incident Commander. An IC tally is left for
the entire duration of time spent in attendance at incident, and a close liaison with
designated Fire or Police Press Liaison Officers (PLO) at scene is maintained.
