My background....
Fire Service
I joined the Surrey Fire
Brigade (now the Surrey Fire & Rescue Service) on 5th April 1984 at the
age of 18,
as a part of the Retained Duty
System (RDS) at Lingfield Fire Station.
During almost a quarter of a century serving my community I have moved on
through the ranks to attain the role of Watch Manager in Charge,
having held this position since May 1996. I am responsible for
one appliance and 14 personnel of both RDS
and WT/RDS
status..
I am a holder of the
Queens Golden Jubilee
&
Fire Brigade Long Service &
Good Conduct
medals, and
an
operational incident
Chief Officers Letter of Recognition.
Between August 2006 and April
2007 I took on the trial role of Surrey Fire & Rescue Service's on-call
incident
photographer providing operational and training images to
the services Publicity Department and on request to
the Local and National Press following specific incidents
of interest.
As of May 2007 this
same role has been provided through the independent use of
Fire Photos
via mobilisation through
Command & Control
to incidents of 6 pumps and above, and other incidents of interest at their discretion.
Photographic
My
photographic career began as a Freelance covering the conflicts in Croatia &
Bosnia Herzegovina. During the Croatian conflict I worked briefly as a Stringer for the Reuters news agency prior to enlisting
as a member of the Bosnian Croatian Army (Hrvatsko Vijece Obrane).
As a member of the HVO I served as one of only two
international volunteer combat photographers and was jointly responsible for
covering Croatian combat actions
& providing photographic
images for military intelligence uses. I served
from May 1993 through to October
1995 alongside HVO forces throughout Southern and Central Bosnia
from a base of operations in the city of Mostar.
Through
following years as a Freelance Press Photographer I covered a wide variety
of news events including the conflict within Kosovo,
the funeral of The Princess of Wales,
Ladbroke Grove rail crash & various Social, Political and Anti War
Demonstrations within Central
London.
